WINGS Volunteers and their Big Gift!

Volunteer Coordinator Beth Renee and WINGS
Volunteer Patty
At
WINGS, we simply could not do what we do without
our volunteers. They answer the phone for the
crisis line, and play tag with the kids while
the moms are in class; they lick envelopes at
the main office for invitations to our special
events, and sort donations at the resale stores.
Sometimes we teach them new skills they need for
volunteering, and sometimes they come to us with
their own professional skills that they use to
teach us.
In an effort to give our volunteers the
recognition that they deserve, we are attempting
to begin to quantify their service they give to
the WINGS Program. Independent Sector is a group
that calculates the financial value of a
volunteer hour, and based on our recorded
volunteer hours for fiscal year 2009, our
volunteers gave us service valued at
$942,232.50!
Though we are thrilled by this great
accomplishment, we also realize that this only
begins to represent what volunteers do for us.
There countless of uncompensated hours that
donors, board members, volunteers and staff give
to us that are never recorded and sometimes
never even seen. Also, there is no way to
quantify the encouragement we receive from those
fantastic people who come regularly to our
office with a smile on their face and hands
ready to help.
Thank you to all of you who work tirelessly to
help give the women and children of the WINGS
Program achieve their dreams!
