La Tonya Walker, MS, ICDVP, Chief Program Officer
La Tonya joined the WINGS Program Inc. in 2005 and in 2021, La Tonya joined the Executive team as Chief Program Officer providing strategic oversight and statewide advocacy for all programs within the organization. Her responsibilities include oversight and creation of programs to include transitional, permanent and low-income housing, case management, children’s services, clinical services, hospital and Latina community-based services as well as both 24-hour shelter programs. She began her work in the Domestic Violence arena in 1996 and has worked with judges, states attorneys, police officers as well as local and state officials. In addition to service at WINGS, La Tonya has served as Program Director of a drop-in center for homeless women and provided oversight of health and children’s related programs with the Mayor’s Office on Domestic Violence, American Cancer Society as well as Children Home and Aid Society. In addition to program oversight, La Tonya has served as Executive Director with focus on donor relations, fundraising, budgeting and finance as well as board development. Ms. Walker has served on the Elgin Human Services Council, Human Services Advisory for Harper College, Board of Directors for the Suburban Alliance to End Homelessness, Kane County Continuum of Care and the Chicago Battered Women’s Network. La Tonya received her Bachelors of Science degree in Sociology from De Paul University and Masters of Science in Non-Profit Management from Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies. In addition, La Tonya is a Certified Domestic Violence Professional.
