DomesticShelters.org has announced WINGS Resale as one of the winners of the 2023 Purple Ribbon Awards for Outstanding Thrift Shop of the Year. Purple Ribbon awards are judged by a national panel of respected professionals from the domestic violence field.

Each year, WINGS Holiday Store provides survivors of domestic violence with gifts for themselves and their children. Through donations from the agency’s community of supporters, this year WINGS Holiday Store provided 1,364 gifts to 115 families. As survivors arrived to select their gifts, many special moments warmed the hearts of those present. As we start a new year filled with numerous challenges, we hope you can pause to feel the joy as well.

Christy Martin was one of the first athletes to bring female boxing to the national stage and gained celebrity status. Despite her professional career triumphs and rise to fame, Christy was being controlled and abused at the hands of her husband, who was also her trainer. World famous boxer Christy Martin shares her story of survival at a fundraiser on November 15th benefitting WINGS and The Network: Advocating Against Domestic Violence.

For the fifth year in a row WINGS has earned Charity Navigator's coveted Four-Star Rating. This coveted designation from one of America's leading non-profit evaluators reflects WINGS ongoing commitment to accountability, transparency and financial strength. WINGS has also earned Candid's Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level, and the Better Business Bureau’s Accredited Charity process.

For many years, Wayne at Mikes Bike Shop located in Palatine, has been donating bicycles to WINGS clients. The bicycles have provided access to transportation for domestic violence survivors who often come to WINGS with only the clothes on their backs.
