August is National Make a Will Month. Creating a will is a powerful step everyone can take to ensure their wishes are honored. Below are three myths about wills and information to set up a free and secure will in under 20 minutes.
Common Myths about Wills
1. Myth: Wills are only important for wealthy people.
The truth is a will is important regardless of your wealth. It ensures your assets are protected and passed on to your family for their well-being according to your wishes.
2. Myth: My family knows what I want.
Your family does not get to make decisions for you unless they are recorded. Take the proactive step to set your plans in place so the government does not have a say on your estate.
3. Myth: Creating a will is difficult and costly.
WINGS has a partnership with FreeWill, which offers an estate planning tool that allows you to create your will for free on a secure site in under 20 minutes.

“Our Intentions are Now Legally Documented”
“My wife and I currently support WINGS and we wanted to ensure that part of our legacy and estate would continue to support survivors of domestic violence and advancing the organization’s mission to foster safe and self-sufficient lives.
Using FreeWill’s easy-to-use web-based platform to draft the will and designating WINGS as one of the beneficiaries for our charitable giving was extremely straightforward, even for someone without legal expertise.
We are happy that our intentions are now legally documented through just a small effort on our part. Thank you to both WINGS and FreeWill for helping us show our commitment to social justice and our desire to make a lasting impact on a cause that is close to our hearts.”
