Benefit committee gears up for ‘WINGS in Chicago’

On Saturday, September 17, WINGS Program, Inc. will host its second annual benefit to support WINGS Metro, Chicago’s first new domestic violence shelter to open in more than 10 years. The benefit committee is gearing up as John and Rita Canning along with The Foglia Family Foundation will match dollar for dollar all sponsorships and ticket sales as part of their $2 million dollar challenge grant. This gives the benefit committee a unique opportunity to really make a difference in the lives of those affected by domestic violence and seeking help at WINGS Metro.

WINGS IN CHICAGO will be a high energy evening featuring a musical duel by Chicago Tonight’s political correspondent Paris Schutz and Old Town School of Folk Music guitarist Jon Wall. Chicago’s popular Jam band, Mr. Blotto, rounds out the entertainment from the Soundstage for the evening.

Master of Ceremonies Jenniffer Weigel will lead a fund-a-need live auction all to benefit WINGS Metro.

Many of Chicago’s favorite iconic food establishments will serve from food stations throughout the studio. Craft beers, Smeraldina waters and wine will be featured at full-service bars.

In February 2016, WINGS, among Illinois’ largest not-for-profit organizations dedicated to addressing the epidemic of domestic violence, opened WINGS Metro. Located on Chicago’s southwest side, this new safe house and transitional housing for families is the first to open in the city during the last 10 years.
