“My life before finding the program here at the FFRC was tragic, chaotic, sad, and scary.
I just knew WINGS was a program that helped women in these types of situations, and I never thought that I would be needing them, but I sure did.” ~Mary, Survivor
This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we will be focusing on the power of counseling and support groups in helping survivors heal. Mary is a former counseling client who experienced verbal and psychological abuse before beginning counseling at WINGS Foglia Family Resource Center (FFRC).
Watch Mary explain her journey in her own words.
Mary’s counselor taught her about the different forms of abuse, utilized relaxing spaces at the FFRC, and provided different types of therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR.
Reflecting on her time at WINGS FFRC, Mary shares, “WINGS has greatly impacted my life. They were there for me in a time that I was at my lowest and didn’t have anything… And the things that I learned I’ve taken with me, and I will use (them) forever.”
