This April, WINGS recognizes its 41st anniversary of serving survivors of domestic violence. Take a look at our impact over Fiscal Year 2025, as well as a look at our accomplishments and growth since our founding in 1985. Read about WINGS graduate Tiffany and her full circle moment.
“I’ve Been Able to Spread My Wings and Fly”
Tiffany, WINGS 2025 David K Hill Award Recipient, shares her journey and a recent full circle moment.
“My life changed when I ended up in the hospital. While there, I met someone from WINGS and I truly believe she saved my life.
She did not judge me. Instead, she listened and showed me empathy. She explained how I could take back my power.
My WINGS advocate helped me create an exit strategy. It was terrifying. I had a lot of self-doubt, no job, and three children under the age of 5.
When we arrived at WINGS Safe House, staff welcomed us with open arms. They fed us and assured us we were safe.
WINGS helped me with legal services, job assistance, childcare, and more.
I will NEVER forget what WINGS did for me and my family.
Full Circle Moment
My whole life has shifted from surviving to living. I’m working full-time to provide for my beautiful children, who are thriving.
This December I just had a full circle moment. When I was in WINGS shelter six years ago, my advocate helped me sign up for a housing assistance program. I learned that it was finally my turn and I now have the keys to my family’s first house. I surprised my kids with the news and we had the best Christmas ever!”
