5 Ways You Can Help WINGS Survivors this Holiday Season

One of the most meaningful traditions individuals and families have around the holidays is looking for ways to make a difference in their community. Read below to learn 5 ways you can help WINGS survivors this holiday season.

1. Make a Donation

WINGS is the largest domestic violence intervention organization in the state of Illinois. Due to our unparalleled inventory of houses and apartments, and our customized counseling, 97% of the time, the survivor does not return to their abuser.

In 2023, the IL DV Hotline received more than 47,000 contacts, 27% increase over 2022 and 90% increase from pre-pandemic 2019. For 124 days in 2023, domestic violence shelters in Chicago had no beds for victims.

Your support will allow us to expand our full continuum of services in Chicago, the suburbs and beyond; ensuring that those survivors receive the safety and resources they need to gain their independence and break the cycle of domestic violence.

2. Donate to WINGS Holiday Store

Can you help WINGS Supplies and Pantry distribute over a thousand gifts to families this holiday season?

Your donations allow survivors to select gifts for their loved ones, bringing joy and hope.

Gifts are being accepted now through December 8^th.

3. Shop (and Donate to) WINGS Resale

Shop at WINGS Resale where all proceeds benefit our comprehensive programs assisting survivors of domestic violence.

*Shop for your holiday gathering apparel

WINGS Resale has a variety of clothing from beautiful evening wear to festive/ugly sweaters or beautiful evening wear.

* Donate your items

Before more gifts come in this holiday season, donate items not sparking joy to our Resale Stores.

*Collect housewares for your holiday gathering

Instead of buying disposable plates, consider purchasing a dish set from WINGS Resale. If you are tight on space, you can donate them back after your event. WINGS has a wide selection of festive décor as you prepare for the season.

4. Volunteer

Consider volunteering this holiday season.

*Volunteer at WINGS Logistics Center in Elk Grove

Up to 10 volunteers can assist in sorting donations to be sold at WINGS Resale.

Volunteers must be 14 years old or older to volunteer individually. Volunteers ages 10-13 must be accompanied by a guardian.
