“When families serve families, we will continue to create a healthy environment for our guests to heal”
A Quinceañera is a Hispanic tradition of the celebration of girl’s fifteenth birthday marking her passage into womanhood. This marks an important milestone in a girl’s life. We had a client whose daughter was turning fifteen who felt discouraged that she wouldn’t get to celebrate this significant event since she was in our Safe House and not her own home with her mother.
WINGS with the help of its kind donors was able to pull together a quince for this young girl. Thanks to our wonderful donors, advocates and staff who took care of the cake, flowers, dress, food and more who truly made this a moment to remember.
April Brayton, a senior staff member, said “This is a perfect example of what we can do when we come together as a team/family. When families serve families, we will continue to create a healthy environment for our guests to heal in…I am so proud and humbled to be a part of a team that understands policy and procedures are put in place for the safety of all, while still allowing a safe place for our guests to grow.”
We are proud to be more than domestic violence service provider. We have been able to provide a continuum of different services to the fifteen year old’s mother through our various programs such as the ALAS Program Outreach, Emergency Shelter, and Transitional Housing. All of this is possible thanks to our wonderful supporters who help us break the cycle of domestic violence!
