New Decade of New Resolutions: Prioritize Charitable Giving

You have started a new year with a list of new beginnings. Your list consists of eating healthier, exercising, traveling, spending more time with family, and more! These are all great resolutions which can improve the quality of your life. This new decade consider improving the quality of someone else’s life by pledging to give back to your local nonprofit.

You may have been generous with your donations during the holiday season. And if that’s case, pat yourself on the back for your kindness and know that every little bit you give back can transform lives. Your new year resolution might be to save more money. Know that there are more ways to give back that can make a difference.

Convenient Monthly Donations

You don’t have to make a large donation at once. Many nonprofits offer ways you can donate in increments. For example, you can become a WINGS financial supporter on a monthly basis by joining our Butterfly Club. The best part is, if your financial situation changes, you can change or cancel your monthly commitment at any time.

In-Kind Donations

This is a simple act of kindness that has a huge impact. Donate clothes, furniture or house ware and help someone start fresh. Don’t have any such material to donate? WINGS and other organizations have “wish lists” of materials that are needed. Consider purchasing materials from these lists for those in need.

Volunteer when you have time

An excellent way to give back some of your time without spending any money! You can volunteer at a shelter or at a charity event. There are many ways you can help an organization with the skills you already have. Contact your local organization to learn more about such opportunities.

Attend an Event

Don’t have time to volunteer? Make a resolution to attend a couple charity events. This a fun way to not only give back but also to learn more about the mission of the organizations and other great ways you can help.

Advocate

The easiest way to make your community a better place. Pay it forward by sending the email appeals your receive to friends or family who may be able to donate. Share the organization’s social media posts to raise awareness about the cause.

Make 2020 great for yourself and those in need. Make this the year you give back to your community. If you choose WINGS to be part of your new year’s resolution, click here to learn  about ways you can help break the cycle of domestic violence and empower survivors.
