As WINGS continues to celebrate its 35th anniversary we are excited to also celebrate those who help us in our mission. We are grateful to have such amazing volunteers who play an important role in supporting our various programs and helping us achieve our mission.
In this blog, we’d like to highlight Craig Powers who has been volunteering with WINGS for 20 years. Craig Powers began volunteering at WINGS 20 years ago when his son’s Cub Scout group wrapped Christmas presents for WINGS clients.
“The families that are in the WINGS program have been through a very rough time. If I can help them regain their sense of well-being in any way, then I am fulfilled within my heart for I have not experienced that in my life.” says Craig.
Craig has helped at fundraising events, resale stores, planted gardens at WINGS’s homes, served on the volunteer maintenance team, sorted and inventoried in-kind program donations and for many years, taken a week of his personal vacation to help at the Holiday Site each December. We are very thankful to Craig for everything he has done for WINGS.
Did you know last year 66,130 volunteer work hours supported the daily operations of WINGS? 3,771 volunteers contributed a wide range of skills and talents. Without each one, we would not be able to provide the necessary programs and services for our clients. One behalf of WINGS, thank you!
