WINGS is honored to be featured on the Wintrust Building along the Kennedy Expressway in Chicago for six weeks through the month of December 2020. This colorful and impactful mural will highlight WINGS mission to end domestic violence.
The following is an excerpt from the Wintrust website about the WINGS mural:
“Since domestic violence is a growing social concern in Chicago, this mural addresses a difficult subject through the healing power of art, and brings awareness to the variety of services WINGS offers.
Our hope is that people in abusive situations see the mural artwork and know they are not alone, that there is hope and help for them.
By incorporating the nonprofit’s signature purple color and butterfly imagery throughout the mural, the journey of a mother and child is brought to life in the three artwork panels.
The design illustrates the security and comfort WINGS can provide, as well as the ‘hope and freedom’ that are possible.
The third panel is a bright new day with the mother and older child ‘surviving and thriving’ by a Chicago skyline. Here, little butterfly details in the clouds reinforce the cycle of recovery and how deeply WINGS has impacted their journey.”
Thank you Wintrust
Thank you to Wintrust for taking the time to create such a moving work of art to bring awareness of WINGS domestic violence services in Chicago and throughout Cook County.
